Happy Summer!
In case you missed our social media feeds, news just hit that's kind of a BIG deal over here: 22 Interiors has made the COVER of the July/August issue of Luxe Magazine, Los Angeles, with a 12-page feature spread inside!
When I heard we were on the cover, I gasped so loudly that my daughter ran upstairs and asked if I was okay. The photo shoot took place last fall, and although we knew that Luxe were planning to feature it, we had no idea what kind of coverage it would get. The news was all the more exciting because Luxe is a very special magazine to me. Since I started out as a designer 10 years ago, I could always rely on its densely packed issues having a wide variety of home styles, incredibly detailed articles, and a significant list of sources at the back. I still have many old issues, pages I ripped for inspiration, in my files. And now we have our very own COVER pinned up on our studio wall- pinch me.
I have so been dying to share this project with everyone. We started it almost two years ago. The house is a stunning Colonial Revival on one of the most beautiful streets in Windsor Square, Los Angeles. It has character, great bones, and the perfect layout. We did a ton: Changed up flooring, painted everything, wallpapered, and created a home for our lovely repeat clients. (This is the second home we have done for them.)
You can read all about the process, the challenges, and see the results beautifully shot by Noah Webb is the new issue of Luxe, out now.
Here's a preview:
Thank you to Albaworks for not only sending these beautiful photos of the spread, but for helping us secure the feature.
A SENSE OF HOME PROJECT INSTALLATION
We had an incredible opportunity to participate in A Sense of Home's #DesignerChallenge at the end of May. We sponsored furnishing a home for a special young woman, Calah, and her daughter who are transitioning out of foster care and homelessness. It was a big team effort. Many thanks to EVERYONE who donated time and/or goods. The entire install was limited to 1.5 hours, so we had to hustle hard - and we made it. Might I say, it turned out beautifully. You can see the results in the video below.
More of these in our future, for sure...
SITTING PRETTY IN SOUTH PASS
We have more new photos to share! This time of a lovely French Norman Revival we recently completed on the most picturesque street in South Pasadena. Our clients - a busy pediatrician and her executive husband - moved to the area from the East Coast a few years ago, and were finally ready to make their rooms feel designed and complete. For them, comfort, color, and usability (they have three young daughters and two dogs) were very important. We painted, changed all the hardware (from a shiny brass to an oil-rubbed bronze), installed custom window treatments, and sourced only materials that would be practical - i.e. easy to keep looking good. You can take a look at the completed rooms here:
